So, I'm going a little crazy right now because my ceramic studio is currently closed on vacation and I can't get any of my new leaf pieces fired! So, while I'm anxiously waiting for them to reopen, I'd like to share this fall necklace idea!
I made up this simple little piece with one of my hand-made ceramic maple leaf pendants as the focal. You can find my maple leaf pendants like this one in my etsy shop here.

TOOLS & SUPPLES:
Focal pendant
Black waxed linen cord
Various wood beads or beads of your choice
Larger wood bead or other bead for toggle closure
Ruler
Scissors
INSTRUCTIONS:
Cut two pieces of waxed linen cord 1 yard.
Fold the two cords in half and string the folded ends through the pendant and tie a lark's head knot at the top of the pendant.
Separate the cords so that there are two strands on each side of the necklace.
On one side of the necklace, separate the two strands and string two small beads on one strand and one small bead on the other strand. (See photos.) Measure approximately 1 inch from the pendant and tie a regular over-hand knot with the two strands together. With both strands together, string on a larger bead and tie a regular over-hand knot. Repeat beaded sequence to desire length. When you've reached your desired length, tie an over-hand knot and string on your toggle closure bead through both strands and tie another knot after the bead. (You may have to double knot, depending on the hole size of your bead.) Trim ends.
On the opposite side of the necklace, measure 1 inch from the pendant and tie a regular over-hand knot with both strands together. Keeping both strands together, string on a small bead and tie another knot after the bead. Repeat spacing and beads to desired length. When you've reached your desired length, measure 1 inch longer than you want this side of the necklace to be. (This will accommodate for space the loop knot will take up.) Keeping the two strands together, fold over the cords into a loop. Keep in mind your toggle bead on the other side. Make sure your loop will slide over the closure bead. When you've determined the correct loop size, make an over-hand knot where the middle of your loop will be. (This will keep the two strands of the loop from separating.) Form the loop and tie your loop in place with an over-hand knot. String a few more smaller beads onto each of the cord ends and tie the knots so that the beads fall at different lengths. (See photos.) Trim ends. Necklace complete!
