New Leaf Pendants!

These new leaf pendants just came out of the kiln! They are porcelain clay high fired to cone 10. I get my pieces fired at my local ceramic studio, Two Rivers Ceramics. Owner and Potter, Lloyd Hamovit has helped me out a lot with advice on techniques, glaze options and firing my pieces for me! Thanks, Lloyd! Some of these are formed from a mold and some are from a metal leaf piece that I pressed into the wet clay to get the impression. I'm really excited about how these turned out! Now I just need to make a LOT more.

Gem Treasure Charm Bracelet

This week I made this bracelet for myself. I love the look of copper and use it alot in the jewelry I make. These are some of my favorite gemstone beads from the bead shop. Yellow jade, green grass turquoise, korean jade, prehnite, jasper, green garnet, chrysocolla, and turquoise.

New Beginnings

I hope to share my adventures in clay and jewelry-making on my new blog. I've been making jewelry since 2003 and decided I wanted to try my hand at making my own pendants and focal pieces for my jewelry. I finally decided that ceramic clay would be the medium of choice. I haven't touched a piece of clay since high school until just recently! Well, last year but that's still pretty recent in the grand scale of things. So, I basically know very little about working with clay, but I'm ready to learn and discover in the world of ceramics. Since this is a new beginning for me, I thought it would be a good time to start a blog to record my progress.

I made this necklace for a friend with one of my first pendants. The hand-made dragonfly pendant is knotted onto some waxed cotton cord with turquoise, bone and wood beads.
